Muasher Stresses Importance of Two-State Solution

This item comes in from ATFP - Muasher is on a tour - next stop London:

On Friday, June 27, the American Task Force on Palestine (ATFP) and the Foundation for Middle East Peace (FMEP) hosted a discussion the National Press Club in Washington of “The Arab Center: The Promise of Moderation” (Yale University Press, 2008) with its author, Dr. Marwan Muasher. Dr. Muasher is a former Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign and Information Minister of Jordan, as well as Jordan’s first Ambassador to Israel. Dr. Muasher opened the discussion by emphasizing the importance of moderates in the Arab world today, while noting that Arab moderation has been typically conceived in the West as only having relevance to the peace process so far. However, there is a direct relationship between progress in peace negotiations and the fortunes of moderates in the Arab center. This is why, in his opinion, moderates are on the defensive and decline today.

Likud To Bring Motion To Dissolve Knesset

We seem to hear this kind of thing every week that passes - but so far Olmert has proved the great survivor. This article sent us by ATFP's Radwan Dajani says that Y Net reports that Likud may move to dissolve the Knesset next week:

The Likud Party has openly announced Tuesday it would bring a bill calling for the disollusion of the current Knesset before the House within a week.

MK Silvan Shalom informed the faction that "on June 18 we will bring forth a motion calling for the dissolution of the Knesset in order to hurry the coming election in the most dignified way possible… The decision has been made. Olmert's government has reached the end of the road. All it cares about now is political survival."
